AUSTRALIAN CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK FOR ALLAMBI

ESG is assisting Allambi Care employment applicants, external Contractors and Foster Carers to obtain the necessary Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (Police Check).
Before applying for your police check, there are some important things you need to know.

Please read all of the information below before starting your application. You will need to collect all of the required identity documents before starting your application, as the application form cannot be saved.

This category is specifically for people applying to be Foster Carers.

Please do not use this category if you are a Contractor or Support Worker.

Police History Checks for ContractorsAUSTRALIAN POLICE HISTORY CHECK for ALLAMBI CONTRACTORS

This category is specifically for people working as external contractors for Allambi.

Please do not use this category if you are a Support Worker or Foster Carer.

IMPORTANT: Do not start your application until you have all of your identity documents ready. The application form cannot be saved so you will need to be able to complete the application in one attempt.

PRICE: $45.00 + GST

You MUST supply the required number of documents from each document category below. PLEASE NOTE: You can only supply documents that are listed here. No other documents will be accepted. If you do not have all of the required documents, you should obtain them before starting your application.

Category of ID ID type
A Picture of yourself holding a piece of paper with your name, signature and today’s date.

Guideline Criteria:

  • Adequate lighting
  • No hats or sunglasses to be worn in the image
  • No digitally altered images (must be similar to that of a passport photo clearly identifying facial features. Full /half body images are not acceptable).

Category 1

Choose at least 1 document from category 1

  • Australian Birth Certificate (not an extract or birth card)
  • Australian Passport
  • ImmiCard
  • Australian Citizenship Certificate
  • Valid Australian Visa2 (with Foreign Passport current at the time of entry into Australia as a resident or tourist)
  • New Zealand passports can be excepted with a valid VEVO (Please visit the VEVO website to obtain your special category VEVO record)

Category 2

Choose at least 1 document from category 2

  • Australian Passport (Current)
  • Australian Driver Licence, Learner Permit or Provisional Licence
  • A passport issued by a country other than Australia with a valid entry stamp or visa
  • ImmiCard (Issued by the Department of Home Affairs)
  • Current proof of age or photo identity card issued by an Australian government agency in your name, DOB, photo and signature. (Australia Post 18+ Cards not accepted)
  • For persons aged under 18 with no other Primary Use in Community Documents, a student identification card with photo or signature.

Category 3

Choose at least 2 documents from category 3

OR

Make up the remaining 2 documents with any unused documents from categories 1 and 2

  • Certificate of identity issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Document of identity issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Convention travel document secondary (United Nations) issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Foreign government issued documents (for example driver licence). Documents in languages other than English must be accompanied by a NAATI accredited translation.
  • Medicare card
  • Enrolment with the Australian Electoral Commission
  • Security guard or crowd control photo licence
  • Evidence of right to a government benefit (Centrelink or Veterans Affairs cards)
  • Consular photo identity card issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Photo identity card issued to an officer by a police force
  • Photo identity card issued by the Australian Defence Force
  • Photo identity card issued by the Australian Government or a state or territory government (eg. Working with Children/vulnerable people card or government occupational licence)
  • Aviation Security Identification Card
  • Maritime Security Identification card
  • Credit reference check
  • Firearms Licence
  • Australian tertiary student photo identity document
  • Australian secondary student photo identity document
  • Certified academic transcript from an Australian university or registered higher education provider
  • Trusted referees report
  • Bank card
  • Credit card
  • Australian tax file number document (such as a letter from the Australian Taxation Office containing your tax file Number).

WHAT IS A NATIONALLY COORDINATED CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECK?

A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check—or police check—is often required when applying for employment, Australian citizenship, appointment to positions of trust and a variety of licensing and registration schemes. It helps organisations make informed decisions about the suitability of applicants for;

  • recruitment, job applications and pre-employment screening
  • volunteer and not for profit positions
  • working with children or vulnerable people
  • adoption applications
  • occupation related licensing

WHO WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE POLICE CHECK RESULT?

The following people may have access to an applicant’s personal information and police check result:

  • Authorised police staff involved in the police check assessment process
  • Authorised ACIC staff to support accredited bodies and police agencies when processing the police check
  • Authorised staff of the accredited body or police agency that requests the police check and receives the result

A third party organisation, either with the applicant’s informed consent, identified on the application form, or through relevant legislation.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS TO DISPUTE A POLICE CHECK RESULT?

  1. You must contact Employment Screening Group. You will be asked to outline the reasons for the dispute and provide documentation to support your claims.
  2. Employment Screening Australia will lodge your dispute with the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, National Police Checking Service, for further investigation.
  3. The police agency/agencies responsible for the release of information on your police check result will investigate the dispute and determine an appropriate outcome. The police agency/agencies may request further information to support their investigation.
  4. Once the dispute has been concluded, the accredited body or police agency/agencies will be advised of one of the following outcomes:
    • Successful dispute outcome
      The dispute has been successful and the police check result will be amended.
    • Unsuccessful dispute outcome
      The dispute has been unsuccessful and the result will remain the same. You may challenge this outcome and additional documentation may be collected to support the challenge.
  5. Employment Screening Australia is responsible for advising you of the dispute outcome.

Note: Due to privacy concerns, the ACIC may not be able to provide Employment Screening Group with specific detail about why the dispute was unsuccessful.

When applying for a police check for Allambi Care, you should enter the job position and location of the job you are applying for, not the job title you have currently.

For example;

Job Position: Youth Support Worker, Foster Carer etc.

Place of Work: Allambi Care TOWN, STATE (in which you will be working)

The information you provide, including copies of your ID and also your police check results, are protected under Privacy Law. This means, that there are rules about how your personal information is to be used, stored and disposed of. In receiving your police check results, your employer must also adhere to these rules. How long does it take?2019-11-21T19:38:24+10:00

In 80% of cases, police checks that are clear (meaning there is no criminal history) or where there is no name match with a person listed on the National Police Checking Service (NPCS) database, results will be returned within 48 hours of submitting the application/consent form. In cases where a criminal history or name match exists, results can take up to 10 business days, sometimes longer. ESG is permitted by the NPCS to follow up on the progress of checks after 10 working days.
